With February only just halfway through this weekend saw riders in race action in both Devon and Hampshire. As representative rider numbers continue to increase this early outing has to be a strong indicator that this will be another great season for the club.

Details are now in for the Plymouth Area MTB Championships being held at HMS Raleigh on Wed 11 Feb 09. The event kicks off at 1400 and is open to all comers. Racing at HMS Raleigh is fast and furious and with some tight corners to negotiate it is always muddy. So if your passion is riding off road or even if you just fancy having a go at this rappidly re-emerging sport then book your place today.

 HMS Sultan is the place to head for as they host the Portsmouth area Mountain Bike Championships on Thursday 12th February 2009. The race really is open to everyone and is designed to give the good folk of the Portsmouth Command (plus guests) the opportunity to experience MTB racing a little closer to home. With top prizes on offer the event looks set to become a real springboard for the sport and is expected to attract seasoned racers, curious roadies, weekend warriors and complete novices. So whichever category you fit into get yourself down to HMS Sultan next week and enjoy an afternoon of off road fun.

Satch & Steve K in Duo ActionRNRMCA riders prepare for the first champs race of 2009

It's time to get yourself a partner and get yourselves down to Merryfield Aerodrome on 27th March for the RNRMCA 2 up TT Championships. In a new look format the competition is open to all comers. So whatever your standard or experience get yourself a bike and a partner and send off your race entry now. The new format should bring a broader range of abilities giving everyone who attends the opportunity to really enjoy the afternoon.
