Scooby Drew continues to enjoy a bumper season and returns triumphant from Wales as the 2010 Champion. Joined by several other club members and a Tandem read more for full placings.
The Welsh 12 hour event has been dominated by RNRMCA riders for several years and 2010 is to be no different. With a well organised course and a friendly welcome every year it's no wonder club riders put themselves through the pain, both mental and physical to compete at this time trial marathon.
First rider home and race winner was Scooby Drew (pictured above). Scooby covered 269.82 miles which given the windy, damp conditions was no mean feat. He finished some 10 miles ahead of the next placed rider and was pleased as punch to keep the title firmly in Navy Blue hands. Other winners on the day were Bob and Lyn Richards. The husband and wife team competed on a tandam for the race. They had practised on several short course races prior to the day but stepped up to the challenge for 12 hours. Covering 193.46 miles the duo were proud to be awarded 1st prize in their category. Back in the solo race Chris Vellacott covered some 235.52 miles to finish in 15th place and Brian Kilgannon a real stalwart of this event completed 184.86 miles finishing in 44th place. Overall a great weekend for the team with supporters and riders enjoying the event. Could 2011 be your year to step up to 12 hour racing.........
