nutty100RNRMCA Team Take National 24 Hour Team Title

Provisional results suggest a team of RNRMCA riders who took the challenge at the RTTC National 24 hour Time Trial Championships have won the team award for the second successive year.

What is a 24 hour time trial race?

The race is exactly what it says a test of rider and machine. The clock is set for 24 hours and they ride as far as possible. The riders must eat drink and all other normal functions (with the exception of sleep!!) on the bike whilst remaining focussed on staying motivated throughout.

What skills do you need to compete?

Riders must have Courage, Commitment, Discipline, Determination and Loyalty to name a few. What better candidates then than riders from the Royal Navy Royal Marines Cycling Association who committed to the Royal Navy's core values embraced the challenge and succeeded where many would fear to tread.

Who did what?

The team were led by WO1 Garry (Scooby) Drew. Scooby came sixth last year clocking 461.62 Miles. 2010 sees him leading the RN trio with a third place and mileage of 465 (TBC).

Next came CSGT Stuart (Nutty) Edwards who has also been having a storming season breaking many personal best records. Nutty's distance was recorded at 457. A PB for the hardy rider.

Third RNRMCA rider home was Bob Richards. Bob is one of the 24 hour veterans of the team having completed the distance several times before he completed 415 miles another PB.

Other riders competing are yet to be finalised but for now join the team and congratulate our 24 Hour National Champions
